Apple picking!!

Today we loaded everyone up and headed to Charlottesville for lunch and an afternoon of apple picking. We had lunch at Michie Tavern, a period restaurant not far from Monticello. The waitresses and waiters are all dressed in colonial style costume and the building is an actual historical landmark complete with a working water mill. The menu is always the same, but delicious. All you can eat fried chicken, barb-b-que, mashed potatoes, gravy, rolls, cole slaw, beets, pinto beans and more. They serve on tin plates and tin cups, just like Thomas Jefferson used. We ate until we were stuffed, then squeezed in dessert. Marge loves her desserts! We had a warm peach cobbler ala mode, it was soooo good. After that, we browsed the gift shops and then headed up Carter Mountain for apple picking. Carli coundn't wait to climb the trees-she even tasted an apple! Check out our pics-
